Remember I was telling you the other week about the amazing Carolyn McAlpine and her mammoth challenge for the Beatson Cancer Charity, McAlpine’s Mega Marathon, well she’s just gone and smashed it!
Saturday there saw Carolyn complete her final leg, her 15th marathon (26 miles) in 15 days, finishing to a warm and well earned welcoming committee outside the Beatson Cancer Centre.
I’m going to let you into a little secret, as you know, well if you read my blogs you’ll know, that a couple of the Warriors met up with Carolyn on Saturday 22nd October during her South Lanarkshire leg of the journey to offer some support as she climbed the Eaglesham Moors to the Whitelee Windfarm. When asked how she was feeling Carolyn told me she suspected she had a stress fracture to her foot and was in a bit of pain, not that you could tell she was in pain with the smile that was constantly displayed. It turns out that she did have a stress fracture! 15 marathons in 15 days is a mammoth task in itself never mind doing over half of them with a fractured foot…… while still smiling!!!!!
At the time of writing this post Carolyn has raised £11,365.00, that’s 75% of her target of £15,000 raised!
If you’d like to help Carolyn reach her £15k target you can make a donation on her Just Giving Page
A huge Congratulations from the Whitelee Warriors Carolyn on your mammoth achievement and the amazing amount you have raised for the Beatson Cancer Charity! You truly are the perfect ambassador!
