Spice in the Village, East Kilbride were the first Sponsor to come aboard our adventure. We first met Abby the owner back in April after the Scottish Bike Show Sportive, the first ever sportive most of us had competed in. The challenge that day was 65 miles and in completing the grueling 65 mile course we raised £2,661.00 for Friends of the Beatson.
It was after this event that 7 of us headed to the village for a few pints and a curry……. we ended up in Spice. Abby had bumped into my mate on the way to the toilet and asked about what we’d been up to today. After Ricky explaining that we had just completed a 65 mile cycle, raising money for charity in the process, he approached our table to introduce himself and congratulate us on our achievement.
After a long chat Abby gave us all a drink on the house and said that if there was anything he could help us out with in the future just to let him know. Cue 7 months later when we decided to get custom kit made……… we approached Abby to see if he’d like to Sponsor the kit and get his logo on it. True to his word from April he agreed to become one of our Sponsors.
We recently (Fri 30th Nov) went down for a meal and a few pints at Spice and the hospitality we received was second to none! We were well looked after, well fed and well watered! Not only that, Abby managed to secure more company Sponsors and a couple of donations for us on the night which have all come through.
On Friday Gilly and I went down to meet Abby and collect the Sponsor money from him.
We look forward to working closely with Abby and Spice to raise as much money as we can for the Friends of the Beatson. Abby has discussed future ideas with us and we are really excited to have him and Spice on board!
If you are looking for somewhere to go for a meal and a couple of drinks with the boys/girls/partner or family then I cannot recommend Spice highly enough! You will be well looked after and you certainly won’t leave hungry!
