Today I visited the Beatson Cancer Charity to handover our fundraising total for 2017. Proud to say that we managed to raise £1,540.00 in 2017 for our adopted charity.
Although proud with the amount we raised for 2017 I’m also disappointed that this was our worst year since we started fundraising 6 years ago! A number of reasons have contributed to this.
Looking back and reflecting on things I have to hold my hand up here. I feel I didn’t push things as much in 2017 as I did in previous years. I started a new job at the start of the year and my dad had health issues later on in the year so my time was taken up with other things! With 2017 in the past I’m raring to go and give 2018 all I’ve got!
It’s always good to visit our friends at the Beaston Charity and get a catch up with Kirsty who has now moved into a new position in the Individual Giving Team. On behalf of myself and the Whitelee Warriors I’d like like to wish Kirsty all the best in her new role.
Part of today’s visit, apart from handing over money and doing a cheque presentation was to meet our new contact within the Beatson Cancer Charity, Maisey. I’ve met Maisey before and she is some character, in a good way!
We’ve now been raising money for the Beatson Cancer Charity for the past 6 years and have handed over £15,563.21 in total to this wonderful charity!
I also managed to catch up with a good friend and supporter of ours, Paul Sheerin, who is now working for the Beatson Cancer Charity. I’ve know Paul for a number of years now, we met through the charity several years ago and have been good friends ever since. Paul has never hidden his desire to work for the Beatson Cancer Charity and his determination and grit has shone through and recently he was offered a job with them. I’m proud of all Paul has achieved and hand on heart can say that Paul will be an asset to the Beatson Cancer Charity.
As I said earlier, I was disappointed that 2017 has been our worst year to date. With that in the past it’s time to look ahead and start fundraising for 2018!
Our New Just Giving Page is now open so please dig deep and help out a local charity. It doesn’t matter how small the donation, it all builds up very quickly and makes a difference to those fighting cancer and the families affected.
